William James Rogan III, 72, of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, just hours after spending a meaningful day surrounded by loved ones, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born on February 17, 1953, in Worcester, MA, to the late William James Rogan Jr. and Phyllis Rogan (née Noonan) of Spencer. He was a wonderful father, a loving brother, and a cherished uncle and great-uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed a happy childhood in Spencer, MA, growing up on Irving Street as the eldest of four children, with cousins living right next door. Bill graduated from David Prouty High School in 1971 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Stonehill College.
Bill worked as a dedicated software engineer for over 25 years, holding positions at Paul Revere Insurance Company and later at Hanover Insurance. An intelligent and forward-thinking man, he was studying Artificial Intelligence at WPI in the 1980s—decades before AI became widely known.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a passionate music lover and a talented guitarist who performed in many bands throughout the Worcester area over his lifetime. He especially enjoyed spending time with his sons, attending live music events, and socializing with family and friends.
Bill’s kindness, compassion, and infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Sean Rogan and Alexander Rogan (and his wife, Ntevhedzeni); his siblings, Kevin Rogan (and his wife, Christine), James Rogan, and Susan Pedone (and her husband, Francis); and his nieces and nephews, Kevin Rogan Jr., Sarah Malone (and her husband, Tom), Emily Ditullio (and her husband, Brandon), Elizabeth Pedone, and Evan Pedone. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Carol Boudrieau (née Wilson), and his cousins, Kathleen Whitty (and her husband, Christopher) and Maureen Salo (and her husband, Dan).
The family extends their heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at Saint Vincent’s Medical Group for their compassionate care over the past 20 years.
Per his wishes, services were held privately. A memorial service will be planned for a future date in the Spencer, MA area. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Saint Vincent’s Hospital.
