William J. Perry, 70, of Worcester, died Saturday, March 25, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital.
Bill leaves five brothers, his twin Ralph H. Perry and his wife Donna of Holden, Richard J. Perry Jr. and Michael P. Perry, both of Worcester, John A. Perry and his wife Tandrea of Grafton, and David F. Perry of Auburn; two sisters, Paula Perry-Smith of Auburn, and Nancy Mias of Oxford; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
His brother Dennis died sadly in 2013 with whom Bill had a very special bond.
Bill was born in Worcester, son of Richard J. and Judith A (Ryan) Perry. he was a graduate of South High School. He lived ten years in Hollywood, Fla., before returning to Worcester in 1989.
Bill worked for the Worcester Public Schools for more than 20 years, retiring in 2020.
Bill was a big sports fan, especially of the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins. He played in adult softball leagues and some street hockey. He loved to visit Old Orchard Beach in Maine in the summer. He also camped regularly for years with his many friends along the Mohawk Trail.
Bill was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council. He enjoyed fishing in Coes Pond behind the Knights clubhouse in the warmer months, and ice fishing in the winter months.
Bill was great company and a great friend to many. He was devoted to his family, especially his late mother.
Calling hours are Thursday, March 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Friday, March 31, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery will be private.
