William P. McKiernan Jr., 81, a resident of Notre Dame du Lac, died on Monday, January 29, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital after a period of declining health.
He leaves three brothers, John J. McKiernan and his wife Annette of Paxton, Terence J. McKiernan and his wife Shelley of Holden and Francis X. McKiernan and his wife Mary L. of Worcester; three sisters, Barbara A. Murphy of Worcester, Eileen F. Bagley of Boston, Mary E. McKiernan of Sutton and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Taylor of Meredith, N.H., and a brother, Robert F. McKiernan of Worcester.
William was born in Worcester, son of William P. and Pearl M. (Jeannotte) McKiernan, and lived in Worcester all his life.
He was a graduate of St. Stephen’s High School in 1960, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves from 1960 to 1966.
Bill was employed for 33 years as a printer for State Mutual Life Assurance Co. He later worked 17 years at Target in his retirement.
Bill received pleasure listening to music and being on the dance floor. He is best remembered by the kindness he showed towards others throughout his life.
Calling hours are Sunday, February 4, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
