William F. Foley

William F. Foley of Yarmouth Port and formerly of Worcester passed away unexpectedly at age 69 on March 25th, 2023, surrounded by family he loved. 

Bill leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Virginia O’Coin Foley, his daughter Annie Foley, his daughter and son-in-law Ellie and Mark Faenza and their daughter Madison Faenza; his sister Theresa Foley; his three brothers, Myles and his wife Terry, John and his wife Catherine Riordan and Francis Foley. He was predeceased by Francis’s wife Lisa Pierce Foley. He also leaves behind countless beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Bill grew up in Worcester, son of John P. and Alice M. (Sweeney) Foley. 

He graduated from St. Peter’s High School and St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT. He earned a MBA degree from Nichols College in Dudley and later received a master’s degree in Psychology from Assumption University. 

Bill met his future wife at Blessed Sacrament grade school when they were only five years old. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather “The Goober.” 

Bill had a long successful career in the Metal Industry as a sales professional. He worked for the Wyman-Gordon Co. and later sold specialized metals to manufacturers for Carpenter Technologies. 

Bill and his wife retired to Cape Cod in fall of 2018, a lifelong dream for them both. Bill frequently drank his coffee at the beach and would watch the sun rise over the bay. 

Bill was a sports enthusiast, especially enjoying football and baseball. He spent much of his time pet sitting for his favorite two grand-dogs, Jasper and Sadie until his granddaughter Maddie arrived and stole his heart. 

William’s family would like to thank the caring and devoted physicians and nurses at UMass-Memorial Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital.

There will be a funeral Mass on Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boston Children’s Hospital. 

The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
