Vincent Vassallo Obituary

Vincent “Vinny” A. Vassallo, 61, of Farmington, CT, and formerly of Worcester; Springfield; Norwell, MA; and Bristol, CT; died Tuesday, November 01, 2022, at Touchpoints of Farmington Skilled Nursing Facility in Farmington, CT. He was the proud father to his sons, Camden and Dalton Vassallo. He also leaves his mother, Dr. Helen (Guillette) Vassallo of Worcester, eight siblings, Dr. Susan Vassallo of Plainville, Patricia Hoversten of Quincy, Charles Vassallo of Brooklyn, NY, Kathleen Mogan of St Petersburg, FL, Virginia Johnson of Grafton, Elizabeth Caforio of Leicester, Rosemary Nelson of Millbury, Steven Vassallo of Portola Valley, CA. and his many nieces and nephews. His father, Dr. Charles Vassallo, and brother, Michael C Vassallo, predeceased him.

Vinny was born in Worcester. He graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in 1979 and earned his BS in Media Studies from Westfield State College, Westfield MA in 1983. He received his Master of Education degree from Lesley University; and his Paralegal Certificate from the University of Hartford.

Vinny loved the many years that he spent working for ESPN, NESN, Mass Mutual, Reebok, and the Middletown, CT Superior Court.

Vinny was passionate about anything sports-related and could reel off facts and stats from memory. His prodigious knowledge of sports earned him the on-air nickname from the sportscasters at ESPN of “Vinny the Stat Man”. He was the Google for Sports before there was Google and he could be counted on to deliver the data.

He enjoyed golf, Cape Cod, music, and wonderful times with family and friends; but he was happiest and proudest of his two sons.

Vinny’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the medical and nursing personnel at Touchpoints, UConn John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, CT and the Avon Dialysis Clinic in Avon, CT.

Private burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester at a later date.
