Teresa M. Sweeney, 96, of Worcester, died Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home.
Teresa was born in Worcester on July 6, 1926 to Edwin T. Sweeney and Helen Donovan Buckley Sweeney. She was predeceased by her brothers Francis, Edwin, James and Robert, and her sister Mary Buckley.
Teresa graduated from North High School in 1944. She worked for many years at Rexnord Company as a purchasing manager becoming one of the first women ever to hold the position of President of the Purchasing Agents Association of Worcester.
She and her sister Mary traveled extensively in the United States, Canada and Europe and enjoyed many overseas trips.
As an advocation, she studied Braille locally and spent 15 years translating ink print to Braille for the National Braille Press. She considered this to be her most rewarding endeavor.
Teresa spent many years as a caregiver in particular to a beautiful lady who she felt to be a remarkable person and from whom she learned the true meaning of faith and trust.
She leaves a nephew and four nieces as well as wonderful and close friends who have been priceless in her life especially with their kindness beyond measure in her last years.
There will be an opportunity for visiting at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St., Worcester, on Tuesday, April 11, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing funeral arrangements.
