Susan Anne McRell (Freberg), 77, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, after her nine lives came to an end.
Susan grew up in Seekonk, MA, where she graduated from East Providence High School before attending Johnson & Wales College.
She married her then-husband, Jeremy Bruce McRell of Reading, MA. They began a life together in Sterling before settling at the base of Mount Wachusett in Princeton, MA, where they had their three daughters. Their adventures took them to Natick, MA, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa before finally returning to Worcester, where Susan spent the rest of her years.
Susan had a lifelong passion for antiques and was the proud owner of Susan’s Antiques in Putnam, CT, and June Street Antiques in Worcester. Her kindness and deep knowledge of antiques made her shops beloved by many.
Susan was known for her style and grace. She carried herself with a quiet elegance that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Above all, she cherished time spent with her family. She will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and laughter, and the warmth from a simple smile she brought.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Carl and Rita Freberg of Maryville, TN.
Susan is survived by her three daughters, Marnie (McRell) Doyle of Holden, MA; Katy McRell of Worcester, MA; and Alyssa McRell of Belmont, NH.
She was a loving grandmother to Caitlin Blaney Doyle, Emily Grace Doyle, Jacob Denison McRell, Lilly Hannah Milligan, and Kayley Elizabeth Milligan.
She is also survived by her beloved sister, Lynne Freberg Hurst, and husband, Randy, of Maryville, TN. Additionally, she leaves behind two cherished nieces, Kara (Maciel) Wilbourn and Summer (Maciel) Webb, and their families.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, on Thursday, March 13th, from 4 to 7 PM. A memorial Mass will be held at St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St. in Worcester, on Friday, March 14th, at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s memory to the Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center Activity Department.
