Sister Marie-Rose Marguerite Charpentier, SNDdeN

Sister Marie-Rose Marguerite Charpentier, of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 86, died Sunday, March 15, 2026 at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

She was born in Central Falls, R.I., daughter of Joseph Omer and Marie Ida (Morin) Charpentier. She graduated from St. Teresa High School in Providence. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1959 and took the name Sister Rose Pauline. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Emmanuel College and her master’s degree from West Virginia University.

Sister Marie-Rose taught elementary school in the Notre Dame Schools in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts and West Virginia, including Sacred Heart School and Holy Cross School in Springfield, St. Rita School in Hamden, Conn., St. Aedan School in New Haven, St. Teresa School, Providence, St. Martin De Porres, New Haven, St. Gabriel School, Milford, Conn. and Little Birch School, in W. Va.

After teaching for many years, Sister Marie-Rose worked as Pastoral Assistant and outreach worker for the St. Elizabeth Parish in Kentucky. Sister then went back to school and received her nursing assistant license in Rhode Island. She worked at the Mt. St. Rita Health Care Center in Cumberland for several years.

She was predeceased by her sister, Pauline T. Glynn and her brother, Rudolph A. Charpentier.

Sister Marie-Rose leaves behind nephews, grandnephews; and her sisters in religion, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

Sister Marie-Rose’s funeral will be held Monday, March 30, in the Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation St., Worcester, with a visitation at 1 p.m. followed by sharing of memories at 1:30 p.m., and a Mass at 2 p.m.  Burial will be in Notre Dame du Lac Cemetery.
