Sister Kathleen St. John, SNDdeN, 85, died Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester.
She was born in Hartford, daughter of Marshall J. and Margaret (Butler) St. John.
Sister Kathleen graduated from Mount. St. Joseph Academy, Hartford, and she received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Joseph College. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1960. Sister went on to get her Masters of Library Science from Catholic University, Washington, D.C. Later in life sister received her certificate as a drug and alcohol counselor.
Sister Kathleen started her career as a 5th grade teacher at St. Boniface School, New Haven, and the Holy Cross School, Springfield, Mass. She then became a librarian for several schools in Connecticut and Massachusetts including, Central Catholic High School, Norwalk, Ct.; Holy Cross School, Springfield, and St. Justin School, Hartford. She also worked as a Home Health Aide and a Substance Abuse Counselor.
Sister Kathleen leaves her sisters in religion the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, January 16, at Julie House, 425 Poquonock Ave., Windsor, Ct. with a visitation and sharing of memories at 12:30 p.m. and a Mass at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
