Sister Kate Panetta, SNDdeN, 97, died Thursday, November 23, 2023 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester.
She was born in Boston, daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Curran) Panetta.
Sister Kate entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1943 and celebrated her 80th anniversary this year. She dedicated her life to God, faithful to the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame, and taught in primary grades in Hudson, Lawrence, Roxbury, Peabody, and Danvers. After receiving her Master’s Degree in Religious Education, she became a religious education coordinator, serving in Exeter, NH and South Boston. She served at Sts. Peter and Paul - St. Vincent Parish in South Boston where she lived and ministered to the people for more than 35 years.
She is predeceased by her six siblings, John, Ralph, Joseph, James, Edward, and Catherine.
Sister Kate leaves many nieces and nephews, and her sisters in religion the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
The funeral will be held Thursday, November 30, in Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation St., Worcester, with a visitation period at 1 p.m. followed by sharing of memories at 1:30 p.m. and a Mass at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Notre Dame du Lac Cemetery.
