Sister Anne Gabrielle Gagnon, 92, died Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester

Sister was born in Springfield as Edna Gagnon, daughter of Come V. and Ida T. (Marois) Gagnon, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Springfield. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1950. She received her bachelor’s degree from Emmanuel College in 1962. Sister received her master’s in business education from Boston University in 1966 and her master’s in religion from Fordham University in 1972.

Sister Anne was a teacher in several Notre Dame Schools in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island including St. John School, Worcester, St. Maurice Jr. High, New Britain, Conn., St. Rita School, Hamden, Conn., St. Teresa High School, Providence, R.I., Sacred Heart High School, Springfield, Mass. and East Catholic High School, Manchester, Conn.

Sister then worked as a secretary at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, New Britain, St. Mary’s Parish, Windsor, Conn., TEK Industries, Manchester, and then Unit Secretary in Windsor.

Sister Anne leaves her sister, Helene Jenkins of South Hadley, nieces, nephews, and her sisters in religion, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Lorraine McGrady and Yvette Regnier.

Sister Anne’s funeral will be held Monday, January 30 in the Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation St., Worcester, with a visitation period at 1 p.m. followed by sharing of memories at 1:30 pm and a Mass at 2 p.m.  Burial will be will be in Notre Dame du Lac Cemetery.
