Rosemary T. (Mullan) Leary, 76, of Worcester, died Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the Christopher House of Worcester.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Paul E. and Elizabeth K (White) Mullan, and lived in Worcester all her life.
Rosemary was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester and Worcester Junior College. Later in her life, she was close to completing a degree in Gerontology at Assumption College. She served as the assistant medical librarian at Memorial Hospital for many years and was known for her impeccable research skills.
She embodied the spirit of service throughout her life. She served with the Girl Scout as a leader for many years, earning almost every merit badge available to a scout. She was deeply committed to social justice and passionately supported the work of Abby's House and Catholic Charities. She was the bright spark in almost any gathering, and loved spending time with her dear friends and family, dancing, and the Boston Red Sox. She had a wicked sense of humor and was known as "the funny one" of the family.
Rosemary is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul M. Leary; her children: Jessica L. Walker and her husband Terry, Seth M. Leary, and Rachael E. Phelan and her husband Michael. She was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren: Olivia Walker, Nora Phelan, and Donovan Leary. She also leaves behind her brother John J. Mullan and his wife Susan, and her sister Elizabeth Martellotta and her husband William, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Paul E. Mullan Jr. in 1984 and her sister-in-law Janet M. Mullan in 1986.
Calling hours are Sunday, December 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 15, at 11 a.m.in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery will be private.
