Robert B. Ford, our beloved brother and uncle, passed away on Monday, July 28th, 2025. He was born in Worcester on August 17th,1957, the son of the late Daniel and Virginia (O’Coin) Ford. Bob’s gentle nature and sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Bob graduated from David Prouty High School in 1975 and Worcester Boys’ Trade in 1976.
Bob was a dedicated employee his entire life starting at a young age as a lifeguard, a grocery store and shop worker, an automobile salesman at Diamond Chevrolet and Sunnyside Motors, and, most notably, as a manager at Bay Path Furniture and Gift Shoppe in Spencer, his family’s business.
Bob is survived by his siblings: Daniel Ford and his wife Nancy of Southbridge, Francis Ford and his wife Shirley Doyle of Paxton, Joseph Ford and his wife Diana of Spencer, Michael Ford and his wife Linda of Paxton, Mary Ford of Southborough, Kathleen Ford Pelley of Leicester, John Ford and his fiancée Karen of Auburn, and Theo Chapman of Spencer.
He is also survived by his adoring nieces and nephews: Jennifer Friberg (Ron), Jeremy Ford (Kelley), Kelly Shipman (Patrick), Patricia Cutler (Michael), Alysha Glazier (Jonathan), Maura Maloney (Ryan), Stephanie Cox (Christopher), Kayleen Ford, Andrea Hill (Justin), Daniel Ford (Farrell), Courtney Pelley (Abraham), Joseph Ford (Kimberley), Allison Ford (Eric), and Johnny Ford. His grand and great-grand nieces and nephews include: Camden, Tyler, Kailyn (Jon), Breanne, Riley, Alexxis, Michael, Nathan, Hannah, Weston, Flora, Rowan, Vera, Caroline, Victoria, Maeve, Jack, Alexandra, Tessa, Stella, Benjamin, Carter, Braya, and Emmalee. Affectionately known by the younger generations as “Bobnoxious,” Uncle Bobby was the epitome of a “funcle” (fun uncle).
Bob leaves his relatives from the O’Coin, Binienda, Brodeur, Pappas, McGrail, and O’Gara families. Additionally, he leaves many close friends including Nancy Sharry, Billy and Laureen McGuirk, Steve Cassanelli, Kristin Hill Ford, Janet Bourget, his neighbors in Jefferson, and his golf buddies at Holden Hills Country Club.
Besides his parents, Bob is predeceased by his grandparents Michael and Grace Ford and Edward and Kathleen O’Coin, his brothers-in-law John Wentworth and Paul Pelley, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his best friend Denny D’Amato.
Bob loved to golf and spend time with his family and many friends and was always the life of the party.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held at St. John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester on Saturday, August 2nd at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at Saint John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the St. John’s Food for the Poor. Athy Memorial Home is handling the arrangements.
