Priscilla Griffin Obituary

Priscilla Ann (Neveux) Griffin, 87, passed away peacefully on February 12th with her family by her side at Tatnuck Park in Worcester.

Priscilla was born in Biddeford, Maine on January 27, 1938 as the youngest child of Henri E. Neveux and Marie-Anne (Brunelle) Neveux. Priscilla’s siblings, Henry Neveux, Robert Neveux, Paul Neveux, Roland Neveux and Pauline Boisvert have all predeceased her.

Priscilla (Pris) graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, Maine in the spring of 1959. A few months later, Pris met the love of her life, James (Jim) Griffin, on Falmouth Heights Beach while both were away with friends for a weekend on Cape Cod. A few days later, Jim showed up in Pris’ driveway, unannounced, in a convertible, top down, with his golf clubs sticking out of the back seat. Surprised to see him, Jim explained to Pris that he was moving from Worcester to Maine so that “they could date”. Whirlwind romance might be an understatement as they were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford, Maine on January 9, 1960. Not long after, they moved to Worcester to begin their life together.

Jim and Pris lived in the Tatnuck area of Worcester for most of their married life. Six kids followed in 12 years, so life was busy, but Pris was the glue that kept everything running well at home. Pris was a fabulous cook and undaunted at trying new recipes, even if they were for a big dinner party…because she took everything in stride. Maybe it was the nurses’ training or maybe it was Pris’ innate calm demeanor but not much fazed Pris, which was super helpful in her very full life. Pris was also very proud of her French heritage and of being from Maine. In every family trip to visit relatives in Maine, Pris sang the “State of Maine Song” as we crossed the Piscataqua River Bridge into Maine. Many decades later, all six of her kids can still sing the State of Maine Song, verbatim.  Jim and Pris were long-time members of Worcester Country Club and enjoyed their free time, especially in their later years, on Cape Cod and in Florida.

Pris and Jim celebrated 45 happy years of marriage before Jim passed away on October 14, 2005. Priscilla leaves six children: Elizabeth Flanagan (David) of Andover, Patricia Kellicker (Robert) of Upton, James Griffin (Patricia) of Worcester, Peter Griffin (Colleen) of Worcester, David (Cathy) of Holden and Margaret Littlewood (Michael) of Andover.  Pris also leaves 15 grandchildren: George Flanagan (Allison), Conor Flanagan, Nick Kellicker, Patrick Kellicker, Cara Griffin, Megan Griffin, James Griffin IX, Peter Griffin, Jr. (Emily), Matthew Griffin, Jack Griffin, Andrew Griffin, Molly Griffin, Hannah Littlewood, Griffin Littlewood and Michaela Littlewood.
