Pauline C. (Farrell) Wambach, 86, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Worcester on March 22, 1938, daughter of the late Thomas E. and Florence I. Farrell. She was predeceased by her husband, David L. Wambach, Sr. and her twin brother Paul T. Farrell. She is also predeceased by her sisters Mary L. Quercio and Frances A. Phelan, and her brother Richard J. Farrell.
Pauline leaves three sons, Paul, with whom she lived, David Jr. and his wife Berta, and Bob and his wife Karen. She also leaves five grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Lucy, Kara, Jonathon, Emily and Kristopher and 4 great grandchildren, Becky, Addilyn, Ethan and Lucas. She leaves two sisters-in-law, Lucy Farrell and Lillian Farrell and many nieces and nephews.
In her youth Pauline loved bowling and holds the title of the youngest champion of the Telegram & Gazette Candlepin Bowling Tournament at the age of 17. Afternoons and evenings were often spent playing bingo or cards at the Auburn and Worcester Senior Centers. Cribbage games with her sons Bob and David were a weekly occurrence, although she never had a 29 hand! Occasional trips to Foxwoods with her sons were cherished times.
Although Pauline never graduated from high school, she prided herself for going back to school at the age of 50 and receiving her GED certificate.
Pauline was a regular communicant and a eucharistic minister at St. Peter’s Church, Worcester.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster Street, Worcester.
The funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester, with burial immediately following at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
