Paul Hobin Obituary

Paul J. Hobin, 80, formerly of Holden, died Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

Paul leaves a daughter Christine Hobin of Holden, a son Daniel Hobin of Durham, N.C., and a brother James R. Hobin of Albany, N.Y.

Paul was born in Worcester, son of the late John F. and Elizabeth F. (Halloran) Hobin.   

He graduated from St. John’s High School, then in Worcester.  He attended Assumption College in Worcester and graduated from Worcester State College. 

Paul was a teacher in the Town of Auburn Public Schools, including many years on the staff at the Bryn Mawr and Mary D. Stone schools. 

Paul enjoyed playing and excelling at many sports in his youth including basketball and baseball. He was on the basketball team at Assumption College and enjoyed watching sports both in person and on television. He loved to read and would sit for hours with a book. He enjoyed bowling with his friends. 

Paul was a gentle and kind person. He was known for his patience and quiet mannerisms. He loved to be outside working in his yard and garden. He will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.  

There are calling hours on Thursday, March 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester.  After the calling hours, there will be a sharing of memories of Paul.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League. 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606.
