Patricia A. Carey passed into the hands of the Lord and her family on September 3rd, 2022.
Patricia was born in Worcester, the fourth child of John F. Carey, a former Worcester police officer, and Jane R (Thomas) Carey.
Patricia graduated from Anna Marie College in Paxton, with a BS degree in Business Management. She received a certificate in Health Care Management from Suffolk University in Boston. Pat also attended St. Vincent Hospital School of Radiologic Technology. She helped bring licensure to Mass. for radiology technicians. She was a past president of the Society of Radiologic Technologists in Mass. Pat also received the key to the City of Worcester from then Mayor Joseph Tinsley.
Pat worked at St. Vincent Hospital Radiology, the former Holden Hospital, Family Health Center of Worcester and Drs. Paul Shannon and Francis Waters. She returned to St. Vincent as Assistant Manager of the Radiology Department.
Pat was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, sang in the choir and taught CCD.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Rev. Richard T. Carey, former pastor of St. Joseph’s in North Brookfield, and John F. Carey Jr. of California, and her sister Mary Jane Kolarik of South Carolina.
Patty leaves many cousins, Wayne and Susan Thomas and their daughters Kathryn and Emily; Brian and Cheryl Thomas and their daughter Sara; Martha Thomas and her children Evan, Matt and Amanda; Nancy Auger and her three boys; David and Kathy Swan, and Paul and Betsy Thomas and children. She also leaves many other friends in Worcester, North Oxford, Queen Lake in Phillipston and North Brookfield, especially Eric and Mary Jo Hevy, Robin Rockwood and Jean Rooney who helped Pat with shopping, cleaning, decorating and her dear cats.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., Worcester, on Saturday, September 10, at 11 a.m. Private burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery with her parents and her brother Fr. Richard. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Diocese of Worcester Clergy Benefit Fund, in care of Rev. Edward D. Niccolls, 40 Brattle St., Worcester, MA 01606.
