Nancy (Charron) Hannan, 92, of Worcester, died peacefully Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Jewish Healthcare Center. She lived happily there for the last 14 years under the loving and quality care of their wonderful staff.
The love of her life, her husband Frederick L. Hannan Jr., who she spent 48 beautiful years together, predeceased her in 2004.
She leaves a son, David M. Hannan of Worcester; two daughters Tracy H. Kazanovicz and her husband Edward of Holden, and Elizabeth H. Crowell and her husband Scott of Portsmouth, N.H.; ten beautiful grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who she adored immensely.
She sadly was predeceased by her granddaughter Ashley Hannan, her brother Philip E. Charron Jr. and her sister Elizabeth C. Oesterlin.
Nancy was born in Worcester, daughter of Philip E. and Mary F. (Reidy) Charron. She grew up in Darien, Conn., before returning to Worcester.
Nancy graduated from Worcester Classical High School. She then went on to Salter Secretarial School, where she was trained as a legal secretary. She worked for many years at City Hall in Worcester in the Law Department and the City Manager’s Office that she loved, before retiring to spend more time with her Freddie and children.
Nancy was a talented athlete and fierce competitor. She played tennis from her early childhood till late in her years on many high-level woman leagues. She also played golf for many years at Heritage Country Club.
Nancy was always so devoted to her family, they always came first, a trait she taught to her own children, that is of course if Freddie didn’t need her first! She was thrilled when her grandchildren started to come and spent as much time as she could babysitting or just playing on the floor with them. As they grew, they adored Gram and she could always make them laugh with her witty humor. She will be so missed by them all.
The Hannan family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center for their skilled and compassionate care for Nancy.
