Michael Shulman Obituary

Michael J. Shulman, passed away in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. He was 54 years old.

Born and raised in Worcester, Michael was a man of community. From his days on the Worcester Vocational High School football team to recent family holidays, Michael kept a close circle of friends and family. Michael worked for his father’s business, Land’s Towing, before graduating from Anna Maria College and dedicating 17 years of his life as a correctional officer at Gardner State Prison before his retirement. He approached his work with integrity, dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Michael is survived by his devoted mother and biggest supporter, Carol (Shea) Shulman, and was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Shulman. Michael leaves behind his two loving sisters, Kim (Shulman) Willens and Jodi Shulman, and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his son, Michael J. Shulman Jr., whom he considered his greatest pride and joy.

Michael's enthusiasm for the things he loved (including winning big at the casino!) was infectious. Whether cheering on the Patriots, singing to his favorite tunes, or bonding with four-legged friends as the dog lover everyone knew him to be, his passions brought him peace throughout the trials and tribulations of his life. Above all else, Michael cherished his family, and made sure they knew it with every, “I love you.”

Michael's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. May his spirit and memories of the good times live on in the hearts of those he loved. The family will be holding private services to celebrate Michael’s life in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s honor can be made to Open Sky Community Services, an incredible organization that brought stability and support to Michael and his family. Special thank you to his case workers, Hector Quinones (Open Sky) and Patrick Remington (Department of Mental Health), for helping Michael and his family navigate his care.

Rest in peace, Michael. Your legacy of love and laughter will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those you touched.
