Matthew J. Doyle, 74, of Worcester, died Friday, October 31, 2025, at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center after a short illness.
Matt was born in Worcester, son of Cornelius F. and Mary (Carberry) Doyle.
He was a graduate of Worcester South High School and Worcester State College. He received a master’s degree in Religious Studies from St. Joseph’s College of Maine.
Matt was an on-air announcer for the WTAG radio station in Worcester where he worked for 20 years. Later, he became the assistant editor of the newspaper for the Diocese of Raleigh, North Carolina, and then the communication director for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gallup, New Mexico. He retired, and returned to Worcester in 2015, where he spent several years teaching literature courses virtually for the Celtic Junction Arts Center in Minnesota.
Matt leaves two children, Robert P. Doyle with whom he lived, and Claire T. Doyle of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; a sister Mary Stankus and a brother Richard Doyle, both of Worcester. He was predeceased by his sister Cathy Doyle.
He was a member of Div. 36 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
On Wednesday, November 12, there will be a calling hour at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities of Worcester or Toys for Tots.
