Mary Lawlor Obituary

Mary Patricia Lawlor, 80, of Worcester, died Monday, February 23, 2026 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center.

She leaves three sisters, Dorothy F. Hinkle of Westboro, and Eileen M. Fagan and Margaret T. Lawlor, both of Hudson; nephews and nieces Paul Hinkle Jr., Jason A. Hinkle, Elizabeth Norris, Thomas L. Lawlor, Eileen Clarke and Michael Lawlor; and many great nieces and nephews.

Her brother Stuart J. Lawlor Jr. died in 1984 and her niece Jennifer A. Hinkle passed away in 2013.

 Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of Stuart J. and Eileen M. (McCaffrey) Lawlor and lived in Worcester most of her life. 

She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Worcester and Simmons College in Boston. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education at Assumption University. Later, she received a Master’s Degree in Reading from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Mary was a teacher for 20 years at the Quabbin Regional High School in Barre. She also spent a year teaching in Dundee, Scotland with the recognition and support of the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.

Mary had many interests and talents. She was an accomplished seamstress. She was a voracious reader. She loved travelling and researching her ancestry. She was a loving sister and aunt and will be missed terribly by her family.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, February 28, from 11 a.m. to Noon at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester.  A funeral service will follow at Noon in the funeral home.  Burial will be private.
