Mary lived all her life in Worcester. She was a graduate of St. Peter-Marian High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Worcester State University.
Mary spent many years at Elder Services of Worcester, working at a day program for the elderly, a job which she was passionate about and truly enjoyed. More recently, she had been a teacher’s aide through Worcester Public Schools at the Roosevelt School, working in the special education department. She had a special place in her heart for all the students and staff she met through WPS.
To know Mary was to know her kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. She loved her family fiercely and without bounds, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren, K.J. and Lexie. She was blessed with a wonderful wealth of friendships that she cherished deeply. She loved spending her summers on Cape Cod and relished the peace and serenity she found by the ocean. She took pride in celebrating her Irish heritage with her iconic St. Patrick's Day parties. She will be remembered for her love of the small joys in life; a fresh bouquet of flowers, a beautiful sunrise, and a cocktail on the beach. She will be deeply missed.
Her husband and children would like to thank her friends and family for their unwavering love and support during this difficult time.
Calling hours are Sunday, March 1, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be held Monday, March 2, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
