Mary Jo (Williams) George, 87, of Worcester, died Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Care One of Millbury.
Her husband of 58 years, Francis A. George, passed away in 2016. She leaves two daughters, Nancy E. Piscitelli of Holden and Gwenn M. Cipro of Worcester; two sons, Daniel F. George and his wife Patricia of Sutton, and Christopher J. George and his wife Rana of Holden; nine grandchildren, Isabella and Olivia Piscitelli, Anthony and Maria Cipro, Mackenzie, Ryan and Madison George, and Dorian and Dillon George.
Mary Jo was born in Worcester, daughter of Thomas J. and Katherine C. (Scales) Williams and lived in the same home on Grafton Hill all of her life.
She attended St. Stephen’s School and graduated from St. Stephen’s High School. Much later in her life, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English with highest honors from Assumption University. She went on to teach writing skills in the English Dept. at Quinsigamond Community College.
Mary Jo was a longtime member of St. Stephen’s Church and its Women’s Guild. She loved flowers and experienced great joy as flowers bloomed all over her garden.
In recent years, her greatest pleasure was the time she spent with her beloved grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements with burial at St. John’s Cemetery are private.
