Mary Dupre Obituary

Mary E. Dupre, 68, of Worcester, died Monday, April 3, 2023 at home with her family, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 43 years, James A. Dupre; two daughters, Nicole Kinneavy and her husband Patrick, and Suzanne Langevin and her husband Brian; five grandchildren, Danielle, Liam and Parker Kinneavy, and Julia and Andrew Langevin. She also leaves her brother T. Daniel Clayborne and his wife Nancy; sister-in-law Janet DiLeo and her husband Nicholas, along with three nieces, Anne Clayborne, Kate Clayborne and her partner Jane Arden, Jennifer Myles and her husband Rob, and her nephew Peter DiLeo. Her sister Betsy Clayborne passed away in 2010. She will be missed by her close extended family and her friends, too numerous to list and all very loved.   

Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Henrickson) Clayborne. A lifelong Worcester resident, she was a graduate of Burncoat High School.  She received a bachelor’s degree from Assumption University majoring in Social Rehabilitation Services and Counseling.  She later earned a master’s degree in Special Education at Assumption.  

Mary was a Special Education teacher in the Worcester Public Schools for more than 20 years, with most of her career on the staff at North High School.   

She was a longtime active member of St. George Parish in Worcester, where she sang in the church choir for many years.  She also served as a cantor for many weddings and funerals at St. George and St. Christopher churches.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, April 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester.  Her funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. in St. George Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester.  Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797, www.lustgarten.org.
