Mary C. Brigham, 90, of Belchertown, MA, died on December 24, 2022, at Baystate Wing Hospital.
Mary (Whalen) Brigham was born August 2, 1932, in Worcester, MA to Walter and Mary (Conway) Whalen. Her husband Robert M. Brigham died in 1995. She leaves a son Paul Brigham, his wife Logan Wood and grandchildren Eli and Isabella Brigham of Fairfax, California; a son Neil Brigham and his wife Marcia Howard of Belchertown, Massachusetts; a daughter Ann Brigham and her husband Thomas Williams of Shutesbury, Massachusetts and several nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her sister Ann Gaine and her brothers John and Raymond Whalen.
She graduated from Worcester State College in 1954. Mary taught in Worcester for 33 years. She was a third-grade teacher at Edgeworth, Flagg Street, Burncoat Preparatory and New Ludlow schools. Mary retired in 1997. Mary lived in Holden for 48 years and moved to Belchertown in 2011.
Mary enjoyed traveling, gardening, genealogy, and crossword puzzles. Most of all she cherished time spent with her family.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 31 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson, MA. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Holden.
