Marguerite “Peggy” Conlin, 95, passed away on Sunday, March 19th surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter M. Conlin, son Bernard J. Conlin, Esq. and brothers Philp and Richard. She leaves behind daughter Kathryn Maguire (Richard), Walter Conlin (Brenda) and Daniel Conlin, MD (Robert Elsen, MD) and son-in-law Cliff Vera.
In addition, she leaves grandchildren Charles and Martin Maguire, Caitlyn Palo, Megan Conlin, Michael and Matthew Conlin-Elsen, great grandchildren Ellie Palo and Rory Maguire.
Peggy was born in Worcester, the daughter of Maurice Daniel and Katherine (Sullivan) O’Connell.
Peggy was a graduate of Classical High School. Her studies at Boston University led to a career at New England Telephone. Her career was abbreviated after marrying Walter Conlin in 1951. Together, they enjoyed 60 wonderful years.
Walter and Peggy were blessed by many lifelong friends, collectively known as “The Club.” Their families spent many wonderful years vacationing on Cape Cod, Eastover and tailgating at Holy Cross football games.
Peggy’s job description would be “professional volunteer.” For many than 60 years she held many executive positions at the Guild of Our Lady of Providence. She developed many friends through the years through The Guild. In addition, she was an incorporator at the Girl’s Club and member of the Friday Afternoon Club.
After the death of her beloved husband, she spent 20 years at Westbrook Crossing with Mary Maher and her “sisters” Shirley Heyward and Betty McDonough.
Peggy spent her final years as “Marguerite” at Notre Dame Nursing Home. The family would like to acknowledge the loving care provided by Gloria Triola and the staff at the Notre Dame Nursing Home.
Calling hours at Athy Memorial Home on Wednesday, March 22nd from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass to celebrate her life will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street, Worcester, at 11 AM on Thursday, March 23rd. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
