Margaret "Peg" George Obituary

Margaret M. “Peg” George, 67, died Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center University Campus after a long illness.

Peg was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Attorney John J. and C. Estelle (Lavallee) George.  She moved to Auburn in 1966.

Peg graduated from Auburn High School, and Anna Maria College in Paxton. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Albany in Albany, N.Y., with a concentration in Gerontology. She worked for several years in her field of expertise.

Peg found great joy in some of the simple opportunities in life.  She loved Cape Cod where she found true serenity walking its many beautiful beaches.  She enjoyed music and became a devoted fan of the Beach Boys whose concerts she attended many times at the Melody Tent in Hyannis.

Peg leaves three brothers, John J. George of Holden, Francis R. George of West Boylston, and Thomas H. George of West Boylston; three sisters, Jacqueline R. Tonelli of Shrewsbury, Shirley A. Fournier of Auburn and Roberta M. Reed of West Brookfield; and many nieces and nephews.

The George family wishes to thank many of the those who helped Peg during her illness, including the staffs at Alternatives Inc., the Dodge Park Rest Home, Holy Trinity Nursing Center and UMass-Memorial University Campus.
