Margaret Shea Obituary

Margaret Pearl Shea, 90, of Worcester, died Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at home the home of her daughter in Oxford after an illness.    

Her husband John M. Shea passed away in 1994.  She was born in Central Falls, R.I., daughter of Leo and Marguerite (Sweet) Couture.  She grew up in Millbury and graduated from Assumption School and Millbury High School.  She lived in Worcester for many years.  

She leaves five children, Linda Lloyd of North Oxford, John Shea and his wife Tracy of Wash. State; Mark “Wink” Shea and his fiancée Lisa Logan of Worcester, Kevin Shea and his wife Laura of Worcester; and Darlene Thebearge and her husband David of Sutton; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 

She worked in the Payroll Dept. at St. Vincent Hospital for many years, retiring 1998.

She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Charles Borromeo Church and later Blessed Sacrament Church.  She volunteered at Fairlawn Hospital, Hermitage Nursing Home, Rose Monahan Hospice Home, and Veterans Inc.

She was a bowler in the Socialites League at the Colonial bowling alleys.  She was a member of the Worcester Auburn Emblem Club No. 51.

There will be a funeral Mass on Tuesday, September 20, at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., Worcester.  Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Visitation House, 119 Endicott St., Worcester, MA, 01610; Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Rd., Worcester, MA 01602; or Pernet Family Health Service Inc., 237 Millbury St., Worcester, MA 01610.

The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
