Margaret Giaquinto Obituary

Margaret M. (Payne) Giaquinto, 52, of Holden died Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center, University Campus after a hard fight with cancer.     

Meg leaves her two children, Isabella and Anthony Giaquinto, and her parents Thomas F. and Catherine E. (O’Brien) Payne, all of Holden; two sisters, Janice Murray and her husband Jack of Holden, and Christina Penny of Worcester; two brothers, Michael T. Payne of Woodbridge, Va., and James Graham and his wife Joanne of San Mateo, Calif.; nieces, and nephews.   Her brother Thomas Payne died in 1990 and her brother Kevin Payne passed away in 2004. She also leaves her former husband Mark Giaquinto.

Meg also left countless dear friends including Helen, Cathy, Beth, Tina, Maribel and Matt; and beloved dogs Fay and Charlie.

Meg was born and raised in Worcester and has lived in Holden for many years. She was a graduate of Doherty High School in Worcester. 

She was manager of the Verizon office serving the Lowell area, where she worked for the past 25 years. She was loved dearly by all of her coworkers.

Meg enjoyed traveling and visits to any beach.  She loved the company of her family and friends and never missed an opportunity to attend a party or host a group on short notice by her pool.  She will always be loved and missed terribly.

Meg’s family wishes to thank the UMass-Memorial Medical Center 6 West staff for their kindness, and skilled and compassionate care.

Calling hours are Wednesday, March 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester.  The funeral will be held Thursday, March 28, with a Liturgy of the Word at 11 a.m. in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester.  Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701(www.donate.cancer.org).
