Lorraine (Maher) Corrigan Jankowski, 91, of Worcester and formerly of North Oxford, died Monday, October 24, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital.
She leaves five sons, David P. Corrigan and his wife Julie Ann Lamacchia of Worcester, Peter F. Corrigan and his wife Jennifer of Machias, Maine, Paul M. Corrigan and his wife Robin of Daytona Beach, FL, Mark A. Corrigan and his wife Nancy of Holden, and Brian J. Corrigan and his wife Maria of Holden; a stepson Guy J. Jankowski and his wife Kathy of Holden; two stepdaughters, Fae H. Dufresne of Worcester and Anna M. Price of Princeton; two brothers, James B. Maher Jr. of Cheshire, CT. and Richard A. Maher of Fort Pierce, FL; four grandchildren, Daniel B. Corrigan, Evan C. Corrigan, Stephanie L. Corrigan and Chrysona J. Corrigan, nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Victor J. Jankowski in 2001, her grandson Shane P. Corrigan in 2003, and her former husband Francis P. Corrigan in 1999.
She was born in Hartford, daughter of James B. and Catherine G. (Godbout) Maher. She moved to Worcester in 1958 and to Oxford in 1992.
Lorraine graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy and attended St. Joseph’s College, both in West Hartford. She graduated from Quinsigamond Community College and Worcester State University.
Lorraine was a real estate agent in the greater Worcester area for more than 30 years. She retired after a long affiliation as a Realtor with Century 21 Maher Real Estate in Auburn.
Previously, she was a secretary at Sperry Remington Rand in Hartford, a waitress at Messier’s Diner in Worcester and a clerk for the U.S. Census Bureau. She became a friend of Bill W. in 1974. She helped many women in recovery over the years.
Lorraine was a world traveler who rode on the back of a camel, went on a safari ride in Africa, stood in front of the Great Pyramid in Giza, went on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, and many other trips. After all her travels, she said that the only place she wanted to go next was to Heaven to meet Jesus.
Lorraine’s family wishes to thank the staffs at Christopher Heights and Christopher House for the skilled care they have given her over the past seven years.
Calling hours are Friday, October 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 654 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be in North Cemetery, Oxford.
