Leonora T. (Toomey) Ryan

Leonora T. Ryan, age 95, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at The Overlook in Charlton.

Leonora was born in Lewiston, ME to Jack and Margaret (Martin) Toomey, the eldest of 4 children.

She was graduated from Lewiston High School in 1946 where she met her future husband, Thomas Ryan, whom she married in 1950.

Leonora worked as a proofreader at the Lewiston Daily Sun and later at Heffernan Press once the family moved to Worcester. She later entered the field of Library Science from which she eventually retired. Once she retired, she and Tom traveled as often as they could and helped with the grandkids when they were able.

Leonora was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas who passed away in 2005, and by her sister, Margaret Mary Vallerand of Greene, ME in 2021.

She is survived by her three children, Kevin J. Ryan and his wife Jane Todd of Norristown, PA, Gregory T. Ryan and his wife Julie-Anne of Midway UT and Sheila A. Iandoli and her husband Charles of Rochdale. She also leaves 5 grandchildren, Timothy C. Ryan of Lansdale, PA, Katherine Chimienti of Sacramento, CA, Anthony Iandoli of Alexandria VA, Molly Ryan of Philadelphia, PA and Joe Ryan of Midway, UT.

Leonora is also survived by her brother John Toomey of Ann Arbor, MI and her sister Ellen F. Toomey of Harpswell, ME.

Leonora was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Services are private. Burial will take place in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
