Kathryn Mae (Estes) Daley

Kathryn Mae Daley departed her loving family on December 9, 2023. She was born in Worcester on August 25, 1944 to George and Mary Estes. Kathryn raised her children with love and devotion. She was an independent and strong woman who could truly do it all. As a Worcester Public elementary school teacher for over thirty years, Kathryn took pride in sharing her passion for learning with hundreds of children over the course of her career. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was nominated for Teacher of the Year in 1987.

She is survived by her children, Christine Daley of Los Angeles, CA and Michael Daley and her daughter-in-law Lynn Daley of Charlton, MA, her grandchildren Jackson and Reese Daley, her sisters Beverly Maloney of Columbia, MD and Jean Daley of West Boylston, MA, Jean’s husband Robert Daley, her nieces Jennifer Silverberg of Westboro, MA, Kathryn Maloney of Columbia, MD, and Karen Daniels of Seattle, WA, her nephews Joseph Daley of West Boylston, MA and Daniel Maloney of Kapolei, HI, and her companion of twenty-seven years, Joseph Zalieckas of Spencer, MA. Kathryn was able to travel the world with Joseph during her retirement. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her daily phone conversations and weekly dinners with her sister Jean and family.

A private service will be held at Athy Memorial Home on December 15, 2023 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to a fund to install a memorial in Kathryn’s honor at Norrback Elementary School. Donations can be made at https://gofund.me/86d35180.
