Joan Eid, née Conley, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 4 surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born and raised in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. She graduated from Longmeadow High School and Lasell College in Newton.
Joan worked for the Worcester Public Schools for over 20 years. She began her professional career at Hamilton Standard in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she met her husband of 64 years, Richard (Dick) Eid, who predeceased her nine months ago.
Joan was also an avid golfer, bridge player and cook, but will be remembered most for her hilarious anecdotes, unique sense of humor and deep love of family and friends. She leaves behind her daughter Sharon (Leominster), her husband Frank Filizzola, her son Rick (Los Angeles), Rick’s wife Natalie, and her four grandchildren (Krista, Maggie, Jack and Karina), as well many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family plans to hold a private celebration of Joan’s life on Thursday, February 8. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Joan may be made to the Susan M. Eid Memorial Research Fund at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, to the attention of Maureen Perry in the MGH Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114, with checks payable to MGH Cancer Center (or online as a tribute gift at https://giving.massgeneral.org/).
