Jessie Murray Obituary

Jessie E. (LeBlanc) Murray, 97, of Auburn, died Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough.

Her husband James H. Murray passed away in 1999.  She outlived all of her generation in her and her husband’s family.  

Jessie leaves a son, Michael P. Murray and his wife Rose Mary of Borgo Val di Taro, Italy; two daughters, Eileen Murray of Shrewsbury, and Elizabeth Murray and her wife Kathy McGrath of Auburn; grandchildren, Brian Murray and his wife Bonnie of Hoboken, N.J., Joshua Aratta of Maui, Hawaii, Shirley Harding and her husband Evin of Warren, Ark., Kevin J. Murray Jr. and Mother Rubi Murray of Oceanside, Calif., Ian Nolan and his wife Nicole of Northborough,  Leianna Anderson of Revere, and Jesse, Amber, Christopher and Jade; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Matthew, Melanie, Moira, Parker, Kevin, Zay, Jay, E. Jay, Braylan and Gabriel; and many nieces and nephews that she loved.  Her son Kevin J. Murray died in 2013 and her son Dennis died in 2019. 

Jessie was born in Manhattan, New York, daughter of Moises and Elizabeth (Burns) LeBlanc and graduated from high school in New York City. After her marriage and starting a family, she moved to Auburn in 1955.    

From 1965 to 1980, she was a bank Teller at Freedom Federal Savings Bank in Worcester. 

Jessie was a devoted part of the dancing “bobby soxer” generation in the 1940s and early 1950s.  She loved the music of that era and enthusiastically attended many American Bandstand television shows.  She remained a music fan and a fun-loving dancer for the rest of her life. 

Jessie was also a voracious reader.  She loved spending time with and entertaining her family and friends, especially in the summers by the pool.

There will be a funeral Mass on Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn.  Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Auburn.   

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jessie’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
