According to Norse legend, a Valkyrie is a powerful female warrior who does not pass away in the traditional sense; however, this was not the case for Jennie Berg Pagano.
This powerful warrior fought a 15-year battle against a cancer that would eventually consume her. With her impressive and individual style she navigated the seas of this challenge with grace.
Jennie was a devoted daughter to her parents Donald and Louise Berg, an exceptional mother to her two children Nina and Michael and a devoted and loving wife to her husband John. Jennie's creative spirit drove everything she did. Whether it be fashion, house and home or business. Her personal style and way of doing things was always distinctive and always drew attention.
Those who knew this Valkyrie were well aware of her strength and creativity. Jennie graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and Emanuel College in Boston. After proving herself a skilled nurse, she chose to answer the call of family tradition, becoming the fourth generation in her family’s business, Stone and Berg Lumber Company. She took great pride in this position and nurtured the company for 27 years. With the advent of big-box stores, Jennie embraced the challenge of reinventing the business as SBCO, a well respected locksmith supply wholesaler. Through Jennie's intuition and dedication, Stone & Berg remains strong to this day, now in its fifth generation under the stewardship of her son Michael.
You were a unique individual in too many ways to count. A Swedish-American beauty in body and soul and someone we feel privileged to have experienced. You taught us all a great example of what it means to be human and an individual. Thank you for being such an incredible part of our lives.
