Jay McCune Obituary

Jay Earle McCune, 86, of Worcester, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Susan (Schneider) McCune.

Jay was born in Tacoma, Washington to Wilmot Floyd and Valeda (Brockway) McCune. He graduated from Clark University in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army and in the Peace Corps where he taught English in Afghanistan.

Jay spend much of his life working in journalism. He was co-editor-in-chief of The Clark Scarlet and the Peace Core Afghanistan Newsletter. He worked as sports editor of the Canberra Courier and as a reporter and photographer for the Chicago Tribune, the Telegram & Gazette, and the Patriot.

Jay was a member of Christ the King Church.

Jay’s funeral will be held Friday, January 12, with a visitation period from 9:30 to 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester; followed immediately by a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
