George M. Parker, 68 years old, of Tolland, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Chelsea, MA, November 22, 1954, son of George M. Parker and Florence Napolitano Parker.
George was a graduate of Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, MA and Framingham State College, MA, with a degree in Business and Finance. He received his MBA from Suffolk University, Boston, MA.
George had an extensive career in technology then transitioned to finance as a Financial Advisor at Smith Barney, Hartford, CT. He then became an independent broker with Cantella & Co. in Boston, MA.
George was predeceased by his parents, George and Florence Parker. He leaves behind his loving wife of 31 years, Elizabeth (Kenney) Parker (formerly of Worcester, MA), as well as his faithful kitties Niles and Cromy with whom he spent many happy hours. He also leaves behind many cherished cousins and dear friends.
Known for his sense of humor and sharp wit, George had a special personality that drew a great assortment of friends. He had a love of reading and keeping up with world issues. He was devoted to outdoor yard work, and he was also Betty's 'Mr. Fixit'.
George will be dearly missed by Betty, as well as by all who knew and loved him.
Calling hours are Tuesday, May 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, MA. The funeral will be Wednesday, May 17, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church, 228 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
A gathering to share stories and celebrate George's life will be held at a later date.
