Francis J. “Buzz” Harrington, 74, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
Buzz was born in Worcester, son of the late Francis J. and Katherine M. (Tivnan) Harrington. He grew up in Leicester and resided in Worcester for many years.
He was a graduate of Leicester High School and Worcester Junior College. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Assumption and his masters from Harvard University.
Buzz was a facilities superintendent within the Massachusetts court system and spent many years at the Worcester County Courthouse. He also worked at courthouses in Dudley and Uxbridge.
Buzz was an avid follower and participant in politics; he worked on campaigns of U.S. Representative Joseph P. Kennedy II and several others. He enjoyed playing tennis, walking, traveling, and an occasional visit to Foxwoods. He had a special interest in Ireland, which was the topic of his master’s thesis.
Buzz leaves his beloved friends and the Harrington and Tivnan families. He was predeceased by his sister Robin M. Harrington. He leaves sister Kathleen M. McMullan and her husband William of Worcester; brother Mark M. Harrington and his wife Donna of Leicester; nephew and godson Dr. Mark R. Harrington of Buffalo; niece Megan C. Shevory of Harwich; and nephews William F. and Michael P. Batchelder of Worcester.
There will be a calling hour Thursday, June 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. A prayer service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
