Evelyn T. Rivet

Evelyn Theresa Rivet passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents, Ovila Rivet and Evelina (Jacques) Rivet, her brother Robert E. Rivet, her sister-in-law, Faith Rivet. She is survived by her cousins, Roland Rivet of N. Scituate, R.I. and Patrick McKinney of Venice, Florida and especially by her long time best friend, Regina Gahan.

Evelyn was born in Providence, R.I. on October 19, 1935. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in Pawtucket, R.I. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, Ma. She taught at St. Stephen’s Grammar School, Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester, Ma. and Hazard Memorial in Newport, R.I.

After leaving the congregation, Evelyn became an R.N. and worked at Hahnemann Hospital and Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1999.

Evelyn loved life. She was content with the ordinary events of each day. She enjoyed Bingo, the casino and trips she took with her friend, Regina. She was a member of the singing group, the Jolly Jills and looked forward to entertaining the patients at various nursing homes every Tuesday.

After cremation, burial will be private. There will be a memorial mass at a later date.

Donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph or to Christ the King Parish in Evelyn’s honor.
