Eileen P. (Murphy) Berube Johonnett, 70, of West Boylston, died Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester surrounded by her family.
Eileen is reunited with her beloved husband Ronald L. Berube who passed away in 2005.
Eileen leaves a daughter Coleen McFarland and her husband David, two grandchildren, Grace and Donovan McFarland, all of Boylston; three sisters, Joan M. Maloney of Northborough, Mary Ellen Lapierre of Fort Myers, Fla., and Martha A. Pike and her husband Dr. Ronald Pike of Millbury and Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Timothy J. Murphy and his wife Judith of Millbury and Yarmouth, and Gerard D. Murphy and his wife Bridget of Amelia Island, Fla.; her partner John Abbe of West Boylston and his daughter Hannah; her aunt Nancy White of Worcester; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Murphy-Knight, who passed away in 2020.
Eileen was born in Worcester, daughter of Timothy J. and Mary T. (White) Murphy, and grew up in the Brittan Square neighborhood of Worcester. She attended the former Sacred Heart Academy and graduated in 1972 from Burncoat High School, then pursued a degree at Quinsigamond Community College.
She was a medical technologist in the laboratory for many years at Hahnemann Hospital and the UMass-Memorial Medical Center, before retiring.
Eileen had a beautiful smile and a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed "putzing" around the house, with her kitchen as her happy place. She was a longtime Friend of Bill, found joy at any beach and never turned down a trip to the casino. Most of all, she loved her family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Eileen’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Rose Monahan Hospice for their compassionate and skilled nursing care, overwhelming kindness, and endless support.
Calling hours are Thursday, April 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
