Dorothy Ann Porcaro passed away on Monday, June 16th after a period of declining health. She is now at peace.
Dot is survived by her daughter Elizabeth, her cherished grandson Brett, her brother Raymond J. Healy, his wife Jan Vertefeuille. She leaves many nephews and nieces along with many close friends.
Dot was predeceased by her brother Joseph M. Healy, his wife Maureen (McFadden) Healy, nephew Joseph R. Healy, her former husband Francis A. Porcaro, and childhood best friend Mary Lou (Dolan) Baxter.
Dot was born on October 16, 1939 in Worcester, MA to her late parents Raymond B. Healy and Mary A. (Kasper) Healy.
Dot graduated from St. Stephen’s Catholic High School. Upon completing high school, she attended Worcester State University where she received both her Bachelor’s degree and Master's degree in education.
Dot began her teaching career in the Northborough school system. After the birth of her daughter Beth, Dot took a position with the Worcester Public Schools (Grafton Street and Roosevelt). During her tenure in Worcester, Dot served on many school committees, and took part in the school’s extracurricular activities. Dot was active in the EAW and served on many of its committees, her favorite being the scholarship committee. Along with the EAW, Dot was involved in many local and state political campaigns.
Dot was always a faithful Red Sox fan. Once baseball season started, she was either listening to the game or glued to her tv. She rarely missed a game.
Spending time with her beloved grandson Brett was a priority. He was a frequent visitor and her best friend. Brett will have many happy memories of his grandmother.
Services will take place at St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester on Saturday June 21st. Visitation will take place at the church at 9:30 a.m. directly followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will take place privately on a different day.
