Cheryl K. (Foley) Overs, 70, of Toms River, New Jersey, a Worcester native, died Sunday, January 28th peacefully at her home surrounded by family.
She was the wife of the late Edward J. Overs from New Jersey.
She leaves three sisters, Deborah C. Wilson and her husband Samuel of Northfield, N.J., Patricia Noreen Menesick and her husband Dennis of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Maura E. O’Connor of Sturbridge; two brothers, John C. Foley of New York City and James P. Foley of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Cornelia G. Foley. She will be missed by her wonderful neighbors in her New Jersey community where she lived, and her dog Paddy whom she loved and was always by her side - will be taken care of by a neighbor.
Cheryl was born in Worcester, daughter of John H. and Katherine (Shea) Foley.
She was a graduate of Doherty Memorial High School, University of Massachusetts - summa cum laude -for her undergraduate degree and Assumption College and Clark University with an MSW - cum laude.
Cheryl was a social worker for many years in the Worcester and Hopedale area before moving to New Jersey. She was an avid reader and could often be found at the library. Cheryl was also an accomplished baker and cook and was known especially for her butter cookies and apple pie. Cheryl loved to travel and was fortunate to have taken several, including two trips to Ireland with her Mother, Sisters and a Niece, visiting her Grandparents home in Ireland and other relatives in County Kerry.
There will be a calling hour on Wednesday, February 7, at 10 a.m. in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
