Carol P. Harvey of Westborough, Massachusetts and Kennebunkport, Maine passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus. She was born in Worcester. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Francis Stephen Harvey Jr, and her parents, Ellen and Harry. She leaves her son, Kevin Harvey and his wife Antonia of Worcester, her son David Harvey and his wife Dr. Krista Reagan and her very beloved grandchildren, Emma Saiorse Harvey and Conor Thomas Harvey all of University Place Washington. Throughout her life, with its ups and downs, Carol had her best friend, Mary Harrington, at her side all the way. Although Carol was an only child, the Harrington sisters always treated her as a sibling.
Carol was a lifelong student and graduated from Anna Maria College (BA), Assumption University (MA), Northeastern University (MBA and CAGS) and University of Massachusetts, Amherst (Ed.D.) For twenty-one years she taught Management classes at Assumption University. After retiring, she taught at Suffolk University for six additional years. She was the co-author of seven editions of "Understanding and Managing Diversity" (Pearson). Carol loved to travel and visited sixty-five countries. That said, her favorite place was always Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Carol was active in her community and her profession. To name a few, she volunteered with Dress for Success as a grant writer, was a mentor at the Center for Women and Enterprise (CWE) and served on the boards of AARP, Girls Inc and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She was the co-recipient of the 2025 McGuffey Longevity Award for her “Understanding and Managing Diversity” book from the Textbook and Academics Author Association, honored as the volunteer of the year by CWE, and was the Roethlisberger Award winner (2013) for the best article from the Journal of Management Education.
