Beatrice (Brown) Alafberg

Beatrice (Brown) Alafberg, 90, formerly of 246 Massasoit Road, Worcester, died Sunday, June 8, 2025 at CareOne of Millbury.    

Her daughter Mary Harris passed away in 2012 and her son John F. Alafberg passed away in 2017. 

Beatrice leaves a brother Donald B. Brown of Gouverneur, N.Y., a daughter-in-law Sandra “Laney” Alafberg of Worcester; a granddaughter Ashley Alafberg of Worcester, and two grandsons John A. Alafberg of Van Nuys, Calif. and Anthony M. Alston of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.  Her brother Tommy Brown died in 2022 and her sister Donna Payne died last year.  Her aunt Jackie Brown died this year.  Her former husband Charles Alafberg died 2020.

Beatrice was born in Burlington, Vermont, daughter of Donald B. and Blanche (Bleau) Brown.  She lived in Worcester most of her life. 

She was a graduate of the David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School in Worcester.  She also completed a Rob Roy Academy training program for hairdressers.    

Beatrice owned and operated her own hair salon on Grafton Hill in Worcester for many years.

She was a skilled crocheter and knitter, and a talented baker.

Her family will celebrate her life with a service on Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at the Covenant-St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 24 Hamilton St., Worcester.
