Alice Leonardi Obituary

Alice A. (Gallery) Leonardi, 92, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center–University Campus, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 5, 1933, in Worcester, Alice was the cherished daughter of the late Seamus and Molly (Hassett) Gallery. After graduating from The Salter School, she went on to enjoy a long career as an administrative assistant with Worcester Public Schools, where she dedicated over 30 years of service. She took great pride in her work, especially her unique talent for stenography, a skill that set her apart and earned the admiration of her colleagues.

Alice was married for more than 50 years to the love of her life, Nello J. Leonardi, who predeceased her in 2008. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and devotion to family.

She leaves behind three beloved children: Ann Marie Budness and her husband James Eager of Holden, John J. Leonardi and his wife Lynda of Kennebunkport, Maine, and James J. Leonardi and his wife Linda of Northbridge. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Lucey, and her husband Cornelius, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings John Gallery, Elizabeth Andrzejczyk, and Mary Raskett, and by her son-in-law, Paul R. Budness.

Alice’s greatest joy was her family. She was blessed with nine grandchildren—Elizabeth, Brendon, Sydney, Joel, Abbey, Alex, Kayla, Corey, and Christopher—and eight great-grandchildren—Camden, Thea, Porter, Cecilia, Sofia, Emma, Colin, and Rowyn—who filled her life with immense love and happiness.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Alice’s life on Thursday, September 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster Street, Worcester. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the National Kidney Foundation, causes close to Alice’s heart.
