Alan Robert Kossack, 83, of Barre, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the Charlton Manor Rest Home.
Alan was born in New Haven, Conn., to Carl R. and Louise E. (Kusterer) Kossack. He served in the U.S. Navy where he specialized in electronics. His service working with defense early warning systems brought him to San Francisco, Alaska, and Honolulu.
After his naval service, Alan put his technical skills to use working for AT&T for 26 years. He bought a house at auction in Enfield, Conn. which his father helped him move to Barre. When he was offered early retirement, after consulting with his brother Fred, he seized the opportunity to pursue his passion for antiques. His interest in antiques was inspired by his father’s extensive silver artifacts collection that the family later donated to Yale. He became a professional antiques dealer operating out Palmer, Mass. for many years until he moved to the Charlton Manor.
He is predeceased by his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Alice Kossack. He leaves his brother Frederick Kossack of North Haven, Conn., a niece Kristin, and friends including those at the Charlton Manor Rest Home.
Alan was buried with his parents in Beaverdale Memorial Park in New Haven.
